Airport Community Schools is pleased to provide 2 nurses to support our students and families:
Adrienne Furman is the dedicated district nurse at Airport Schools, serving the community with her extensive medical expertise and compassionate care. As a Registered Nurse since 2004, Furman has built an impressive career, previously spending 19 years as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital of Michigan. She continued her education and obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Capella University. Now, she brings that wealth of experience to her role at Airport Schools, ensuring the health and wellbeing of students and staff throughout the district. A resident of the Carleton area herself, Nurse Adrienne understands the unique needs of the local community and is deeply invested in supporting the students and families she serves.
If a child in the district has any medical conditions or requires medication administration during the school day, Nurse Adrienne urges parents to reach out to her directly. She is readily available and eager to provide the personalized care and attention each student deserves, drawing on her extensive nursing background to deliver the highest standard of support. Nurse Adrienne is a valuable asset to the Airport Schools community, making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners every day.
Katie Dobbertin is a lifelong Carleton resident and also a registered nurse since 2007. She spent most of her career in the Emergency Department at Henry Ford Hospital, where she learned to handle many medical situations quickly. Katie loves helping students and cares deeply about their health and well-being. Her experience in emergency care helps her support children and their families throughout the district. She enjoys connecting with students and staff and is always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.
Katie's love for learning led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University. After completing her undergraduate degree, she decided to further her education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Nursing Education. She now spends the majority of her time developing and teaching Health Sciences at the High School. Katie hopes to teach young students about the importance of healthcare and encourage them to pursue their career goals in this important field.
