Nov. 7, 2023 Bond Proposal

Space, access and support were three words that guided Airport Community Schools throughout the 2022-23 school year.

As the district enters a new academic year, our focus has not shifted. With continued enrollment growth, the need to address building space and accessibility concerns remains a roadblock in the district’s path toward continued success.

On Nov. 7, 2023, Airport Schools is asking community members to cast their vote on a bond proposal to fund various projects to address those space and accessibility concerns, specifically at Wagar Middle & Junior High School, along with other campus needs.

The proposed increase of an estimated 0.98 mills would generate approximately $30 million to provide your children with the best possible learning environment and educational experience.

The proposed projects include six classrooms, an elevator, a band/choir room and new windows at Wagar, along with an Airport High School and Wagar bus area and a campus multi-purpose, auxiliary gym space. These additions might sound familiar to our community, as they were among the highest priority projects also proposed during the May election.

Understanding the financial constraints of our families, the new proposal decreases the estimated millage rate by more than half, from 2.85 ($64 million) to 0.98 mills ($30 million).
